Why is Expo City so important for Dubai?

Dubai, where young people go to jump start their career, land of opportunities.

There is so much to do in business, engineering and sciences that many talented people are attracted to the United Arab Emirates.

One particularity of the most famous of the Emirates is the name of different districts that have city in them. The authorities thus intend to attract various industries, research centers or business concerns by field. Here is a map of the « Cities » in the Dubai area.

Indeed, these are intertwined with emirates close by, such as Sharjah ou Ajman which are 10 minutes away from the center of Dubai proper. In fact no boundaries separate the Emirates in the UAE. It is hard to figure out, as a first comer, which one you are in.

But Expo City is worth noting for at least 3 reasons. It has been the site of the Expo 2020 Dubai where countries built architectural prowesses to showcase their excellence. It is now being transformed into a congress venue and tech hub. Many major exhibitions (Real estate, printing, health, Food industry and tech) are to be held there in the near future, including some concerts and music festivals.

And finally, the actual Al Makhtoub Airport (DWC) for freight is poised to replace the Dubai International Airport (DXB) starting in 2032. It is located 10 to 15 minutes away from Expo City. All passenger and freight trafic will migrate by 2034. With a budget close to $35 billions, it will have a capacity of up to 260 million passengers per year and spread on a 70 square kilometers area. This new airport will be 5 times larger than the actual one.

With its proximity to such a gigantic hub, Expo City could soon become the most vibrant part of Dubai and the Emirates as such. With great forsight, our partner, Option 1 World is indeed moving its offices in this new part of town, true to its positionning at the forefront of AI, Audio-Visual content and LED screen tech.

More on this to come soon.
